A funny thing happened on the way to the future; the past caught up with the present.

Fifteen years ago we at Covenant Fellowship had a vision for a kind of ministry that we called "intergenerational." There were other distinctive things about us including a weekly fellowship meal, expository preaching, small groups, singing-focused worship, and an"open floor" for part of our meeting. But the "intergenerational thing always seemed really most distinguishing..

The truth is that  it was an idea before its time.  Few people were writing or talking about intergenerational worship back then. We were pretty much on our own, trying to implement a vision from the ground up. We plugged along for years doing the best we could, but perhaps not the best we should. And now, all over the country, in this place ands that, intergenerational corporate life is growing.

The exciting thing for us is that we have a lot more great ideas to draw upon as more and more brethren are thinking about these things. Some people call it "family integrated worship." I like that, though for us I want it to also mean "church family integrated worship." And despite the increase of attention this idea is getting it remains counter cultural to say the least.

The basic idea is that the family, and the church family, worship together, not all in different places. We have already restructured two Sundays a month to make this more of a reality (and a side benefit is a shorter service!). We're excited to be learning and brainstorming new ideas about how to include not just children but everyone more and more in the worship, and to integrate the worship into other aspects of corporate life.

It's a time of energy, freshness, and enthusiasm. It's like we're finally doing what we always wanted to do.

We invite you to come out and see what this family integrated worship is all about. We're still a relatively small church, and you
will find yourself warmly greeted, and remembered. It's a different approach for kids, one which we believe will bring more growth and Christian joy to them as we go along.

We meet at Bur-Mil Park clubhouse every Sunday at 10:00am. Actually we start singing about 10:10 or 10:15 but we like to greet one another before we start.

We would love to meet you,

In Christ,

Joel Gillespie, Pastor
